Webb20 juni 2012 · Two case studies are presented: 1) a deep soil site at the Savannah River Site (SRS) and 2) a shallow stiff soil site at the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant (WTP). Results indicate that for the two cases examined, SASSI properly transmits motion through the soil profile and embedded box structure. WebbBasically, the FV method uses the full excavation volume model dofs. This modelling assumption corresponds to the “theoretical exact” SSI modelling for the excavated soil dynamics. The Subtraction Method (SM) and the more robust Modified Subtraction Methods (MSM) are “short cuts” of the FV substructuring.

The DM requires each soil node in the excavated volume of the soil be an interaction node. In 1998, an alternative solution method was introduced for solving SSI problems – the “subtraction method” (SM).
